What is Reiki?

Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy; which, according to Eastern teachings is an energy which is all around us. Reiki is a form of hands on energy healing which involves Ferenc channeling this Universal energy into the recipient producing a warm and relaxing sensation. The receipt of Reiki will assist with the physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of the recipient. There is no belief system attached or associated to Reiki meaning anyone can receive a Reiki treatment. The only pre-requisite is the willingness to accept Reiki.
What is involved in a Reiki treatment?
Receiving a Reiki treatment is a simple and relaxing process. The recipient lies on a massage table and relaxes. (In the event of immobility, the treatment may be conducted in a sitting position) It is worth noting that Reiki will pass through anything, even plaster casts, and as such, may be used as an aid to speed the healing process following injury or an operation.
Ferenc places his hands non-intrusively in a sequence of positions which cover the whole body to channel the Universal energy. With Reiki, the whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms. A full treatment usually takes 1 hour with each position held for several minutes.
Modern Reiki
Reiki is the modern name given to a system of natural hands-on healing which was rediscovered in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui in 1926. Dr Usui was inspired to develop this healing system from ancient manuscripts following many years of study, research and meditation.
He spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching Reiki. Today, Reiki is taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.
